Once you become a Canadian citizen, you can apply for a Canadian passport. The valid period of the passport is 5 years and cannot be renewed or extended. Therefore, you only need to apply for the passport if you are about to travel abroad soon (excluding U.S.).

The processing time to obtain the passport is normally 10 working days. Urgent(next day) or express(2-9 days) service are available too. The fee is $85 for normal service, plus $70 or $30 for urgent or express service.
